Week 8 Picks

Back in 2013, some of my friends in Northern Virginia were talking about this high school quarterback from Loudon County who had led his team at Briar Woods to three state championships.

McSorley1-1.jpg

He was only rated a 3-star prospect, and many schools projected him as a defensive back in college because he was just 5-10.  He was tough as nails thanks to his daddy who played at Richmond, and wanted to be a quarterback. Not a safety...a quarterback in college.   Vanderbilt was about the only school that wanted him solely as a QB.   Well the Vandy staff ended up at Penn State and now everyone knows the story of Trace McSorley. He’s re-writing the passing records at Penn Sate and leads the No. 2 Nittany Lions into Saturday’s game with Michigan.

The national focus will be on PSU’s Saquon Barkley (Heisman favorite?) but the difference in this game will be McSorley. He’s always been the X-factor.  And he usually wins.
